Gareth’s legal expertise covers the full spectrum of clinical negligence work, with particular strength in the following areas:

- Birth and neonatal injuries: A strong track record of acting for families in high-value claims arising from birth trauma, including cases requiring lifelong care and support.

- High-value quantum assessment: Highly experienced in assessing complex quantum issues and securing multi-million-pound settlements to fund lifelong care, loss of earnings, and specialist equipment.
Qualifications
Gareth holds degrees in both Business Management and Law, a background that supports his strategic approach to managing complex litigation and leading a high-performing legal team.
He qualified as a solicitor in 2006 and brings 20 years of legal experience to his work on behalf of clients.
Career
Gareth brings close to two decades of experience in medical negligence, operating at the sharp end of the discipline. In his role as Head of Medical Negligence, he sets the strategic direction for the department while continuing to handle the firm’s most complex, sensitive, and high-value cases personally.
At JF Law, Gareth heads a dedicated team of specialist solicitors, maintaining rigorous standards of client care and legal precision. He is particularly respected for overcoming formidable legal challenges, with extensive experience in fatal claims and cases involving breaches of human rights.
Gareth's Key Achievements
When asked about his career achievements, Gareth points first to qualifying as a solicitor. It took nine years from his first day studying law to qualification, a period during which he also married and became a father to two children. For Gareth, qualifying was a significant personal and professional milestone.
When reflecting further, he highlights a recent medical negligence case involving the mismanagement of a post-operative infection following eye surgery, which resulted in the client losing their sight. The case settled for approximately £2 million.
Gareth notes that while compensation could not restore the client’s vision, the settlement provided a level of independence the client would not otherwise have had. Contributing to an outcome that improved the client’s quality of life remains one of the most rewarding aspects of his work, both professionally and personally.
